1What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things between page loads — like what you typed into a form — and help us understand how the site is used. This policy covers cookies and similar technologies (local and session storage) on mbtaxservices.co.uk. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.

2Who we are

M&B Tax Services Ltd, company number 09421033, registered office Eastlands Court Business Centre, St Peters Road, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 3QP. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under number ZA861333 and regulated by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.

3Essential cookies

Always active · no consent needed Strictly necessary for the website to work. They do not track you and are exempt from consent requirements under PECR.
Name Purpose Duration
mb_cookie_consent Remembers your cookie choices so we don’t ask again on every page 12 months
mb_form_state Preserves your progress through the multi-step online service forms, so a refresh doesn’t lose your entries Session
__stripe_mid Set by Stripe to process payments securely and prevent card fraud 12 months
__stripe_sid Set by Stripe for fraud prevention during an active checkout 30 minutes

4Analytics cookies

Only set if you accept We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful, which guides get read, and where visitors drop off. It helps us decide what to write and fix next. These cookies are only set after you click “Accept all” in our cookie banner. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded at all.
Name Purpose Duration
_ga Distinguishes one visitor from another so visit counts are accurate 24 months
_ga_<ID> Maintains analytics session state for this specific property 24 months
_gid Distinguishes visitors over a short window 24 hours
Analytics data is processed by Google LLC. We have IP anonymisation enabled, we do not use Analytics for advertising, and Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off. See Google’s privacy policy.
What we don’t do
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. No Meta Pixel, TikTok, LinkedIn Insight or any ad-network tracker. We do not sell or share your browsing data with data brokers.

5Third-party content

Two parts of this site embed content from other companies, which may set their own cookies when that content loads:
  • Google Maps — the map on our Contact page is served by Google and may set cookies for map preferences and abuse prevention.
  • Stripe — our payment processor on the Online Services checkout, which sets the essential fraud-prevention cookies listed above.
We don’t control these. See Google’s and Stripe’s own privacy notices.

6Managing your choices

When you first visit, our banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. You can change that decision whenever you like — and nothing non-essential is set until you choose.
Blocking cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of this site working, including the online service forms. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google’s browser opt-out add-on.

7Our legal basis

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) we may set strictly necessary cookies without consent. For everything else — including Google Analytics — we rely on your consent, which you give by clicking “Accept all” and can withdraw at any time. Where cookie data amounts to personal data, we process it under UK GDPR as described in our Privacy Policy.

8Changes to this policy

We review this policy whenever we add or remove a tool that sets cookies, and at least annually. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.

9Contact & complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we handle cookies or your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
